Trade

Blacksmith

The blacksmith is the end of the metal chain. Eight recipes split between weapons and armour, from the level 1 Iron Dagger to the level 5 Daedric Dagger, with steel, orcish, dwarven and ebony along the way.

The work

Everything happens at the forge, and nothing happens without components: the Steel Sword asks for two of one material and two more of two others, the Iron Helmet for three and two. The blacksmith gathers nothing from the ground, which is why it is the trade that feels a missing chain partner the most. In exchange, what it makes is the only thing on the list anyone takes into a fight.

What it depends on

Bars come from the miner, leather strips come from the hunter. A blacksmith alone on a server without those two makes Iron Daggers and stops there. With them nearby, they are the one who turns everyone else’s work into something worth carrying.

How the trades work

Two trades per character, five levels in each. Experience comes from gathering and from making, and the thresholds are 1,000, 6,000, 15,000 and 30,000 points.

Gathering takes from the world: an ore vein, a tree, a downed animal, a field. Making needs the right station nearby, the forge for metal, the cooking pot for food, and the components in your pack.

Recipes are gated by level, and most of them ask for material another trade produced. That is what keeps the server economy turning around people instead of shops.
