Mounts
Horse breeds
Vanilla Skyrim has one horse. Here the stablemaster sells seven, and four of them are kept for Patrons.
Every horse leaves the stable at 60 speed, 60 stamina and 60 temper. The breed changes the coat and the price, not the numbers: what sets one horse apart from another is the time you spend with it and the tack you put on it.
Three horses are open to everyone: the Whiterun black and the Windhelm brown at 8,000 gold, and the Riften grey at 12,000. The other four, the Markarth piebald, the Solitude palomino, Frost and Shadowmere, are sold to Patrons only.

How mounts work
Horses are bought from the stablemaster and wait in your stable, which holds up to five. You name it when you buy it, and you can sell it back for 40% of its price at the stable.
The bond grows while the horse is out with you, and stamina and temper grow with it. Saddles, saddlebags and blinders are bought at the stable and add speed, stamina or temper. A whistle calls your favourite horse.
